Professional BoatBuilder magazine in Brooklin has announced the promotion of Aaron Porter to editor.

Porter will also take over responsibility for editing the IBEX seminar program. He replaces Paul Lazarus, who will continue as a contributing editor. Porter was managing editor for five years under Lazarus’s direction.

A native of Nova Scotia and Maine, Porter came to Professional BoatBuilder with an extensive background as a professional sailor, rigger and award-winning marine journalist who wrote extensively about fisheries policy, aquaculture, boatbuilding and other maritime affairs on the Maine coast.

Since joining the editorial team in 2005, he has been responsible for improving editorial content on Professional BoatBuilder’s website, ProBoat.com, and managing the publication’s boat design competitions, in addition to shared editorial duties producing the print edition of the magazine.
