BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island Regional School System (MDI RSS) board approved a system administration budget of $1.28 million for the 2010-2011 fiscal year at the system’s annual meeting Dec. 16 at MDI High School.

Funding for the superintendent’s office, primarily for salaries and benefits, accounts for $490,000 of the budget. Another $333,000 will go for special education services and administration. Nearly $184,000 is earmarked for the office of curriculum and certification, $126,000 for technology support, and more than $144,000 for occupational therapy (OT).

This is the first time the budget for the school system’s central office has included the cost of OT services. Each school will reimburse the central office for those services as they are used.

For more details, see the Mount Desert Islander, on newsstands Wednesday afternoon.
