AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Conservation unveiled an online, interactive map that allows users to see the various layers of information that have directly affected the search for suitable areas to test new wind energy technologies. The map is available at: www.maine.gov/doc. By scrolling down the page a clicking on the link “Interactive Map,” the site will then allow the user to click on several parameters to see how they have affected the site selection process. “It’s pretty illuminating,” said state geologist Robert Marvinney. “You can see the seven planning areas we started with, the four much smaller areas we ended up with, and many of the factors that drove the process.” State agencies are required to identify the sites by Dec.15.
