MOUNT DESERT — A Northeast Harbor resident reported Saturday that someone had taken her vehicle for a joyride overnight. The woman said the driver’s seat had been readjusted and the vehicle parked in a different location than where she left it. At the suggestion of Officer Leigh Guildford, the woman agreed to remove the keys from the vehicle at night. The theft of 1,300 pounds of lobster was reported in Northeast Harbor on Nov. 6. The incident is being investigated by the Maine Marine Patrol. Corinne Carbone, 50, of Mount Desert was summonsed Monday on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle. A 2008 Pontiac driven by Laura Carter, 47, of Ellsworth, sustained an estimated $4,500 damage Tuesday after striking a “good-sized buck” on Main Street in Somesville. James Farley, 22, of Ellsworth was summonsed on charges of operating after suspension and failure to produce proof of insurance after being stopped Saturday while driving an improperly registered antique auto. An Ellsworth woman crashed her car late Saturday while swerving to avoid a deer on the Indian Point Road. The 1997 Volvo, driven by 33-year-old Amy Picard, left the road and went into a ditch. Damage is estimated at $1,500. A Mount Desert man on Nov. 4 declined to release information about his bank account to a phone caller who told him he had just won $1 million. Police were notified of the fraudulent call. Southwest Harbor A man and a woman in separate incidents Monday reported having clothes stolen from the Plaza Coin-Op Laundry. Police have a suspect and are investigating. A Seawall Road resident told police Nov. 3 that someone might be poaching deer near her home. The woman said someone has been feeding deer in the area and she has heard gunshots. Mario Vietti, 28, of Southwest Harbor was arrested early Sunday on a charge of operating while under the influence (OUI). David Desfosses, 42, of Tremont was summonsed Sunday on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Scott Martin, 47, of Bar Harbor, was summonsed Saturday on a speeding charge. Also on Saturday, Glendon Stanley, 49, of Tremont was summonsed on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle. A Pantech C740 cell phone was reported missing on Nov. 5. Tremont A pickup truck left the Tremont Road Monday and hit a ditch after the driver overcorrected on a curve, police said. The 1995 Chevrolet, driven by Richard Brown, 20, of Southwest Harbor, sustained $2,000 in damage. Trenton A woman reported Nov. 3 that her ex-mother-in-law has left the state with her 2-year-old son. State police noted this was in violation of a child custody order and would need to be reviewed by a court. State police troopers responded to a Nov. 5 report of a woman assaulting a man during an argument about operation of a vehicle. The man declined to press charges. Bar Harbor A Norway Drive man allegedly was involved in an oral altercation with several men who he thought were deer hunting near his property Saturday morning. The men told police they had a moose permit for the area and had stopped and, while armed, gotten out of their truck to get a better view of an animal they thought was a moose, but which turned out to be a very large deer. The Norway Drive resident allegedly fired a shotgun into the air during the altercation, in order to scare the deer away, he told police. No charges were filed in the incident. A deer apparently escaped from an early morning altercation with a downtown fence Friday. Vandalism to a chain link fence along Ledgelawn Avenue near the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church was reported Friday morning after the structure was found partially knocked down. A man later called and reported seeing a buck run through the fence around 6:30 a.m. Of seven minor traffic accidents reported this week, four involved deer. A squirrel that was hit by a car on the Eagle Lake Road Nov. 3 had perished by the time police arrived. Nathan Tenney, 29, of Bangor, was arrested Nov. 6 on charges of operating while under the influence (OUI) and operating after suspension on Main Street. Andrea J. Stowell, 25, of South Paris, Maine, was summonsed Nov. 5 on a charge of speeding on Route 3. The front windshield of a 1998 Mazda parked in the Old Police Station parking lot was reportedly found smashed out early Sunday. Police issued 12 warnings for speeding and other moving violations this week. Three summonsed for expired state inspection stickers were issued.
