Sea Monster Expert to Speak
Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at 12:52 pm

BAR HARBOR — Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman will be a featured guest speaker on Bar Harbor whale watching tours on Saturday, Sept. 5. Mr. Coleman is one of the world’s leading authorities on the study of hidden or legendary animals such as Bigfoot, sea serpents, the Loch Ness Monster, and Chupacabra. He has authored more than 30 books including “The Field Guide to Lake Monsters, Sea Serpents, and Other Mystery Denizens of the Deep,” coauthored with Patrick Huyghe.

On Saturday’s tours, Mr. Coleman will be speaking on the way back from regular whale watch trips about the history of sea serpent sightings along the coast of Maine and in the Bar Harbor area. These sightings include two reported by area lobster fishermen in the fall of 2003 in the upper part of Frenchman Bay.
